The Abdominoplasty Journey What to Expect at Every Stage
To provide realistic expectations about the procedure and what it involves, we have provided a general treatment timeline. We can go over a more detailed breakdown of the procedure with you during a consultation at our San Antonio plastic surgery office. The surgery usually takes one to five hours and is performed at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital, which is just 15 minutes away from our office.
Initial Consultation

He can show you where the incisions will be, where the belly button will be located, and what to expect on the day of the procedure.
Anesthesia
To begin the abdominoplasty procedure, anesthesia is administered to ensure your comfort at all times. We offer both general anesthesia and IV sedation, and patients typically have no memory of the surgery. We use nerve blocks to help reduce postoperative pain, as well.
Incisions
A horizontal incision is created across the lower abdomen to access the tissue underneath. If muscles along the abdominal wall need to be tightened, a second incision may be needed.
